Take this barrel of fun ride down 12 miles of the Colorado River near Moab, UT. If you’re a land lubber who has never rafted whitewater, this is the perfect beginner trip for you and your scrogs. Six class I & II rapids add excitement through this Dr. Seuss-esque land. And don’t forget your cutlass! Aaaaarrrrrrrr!
From June 15 through August join us for a day o’ Pirate Adventure swashbucklin’ down river and searchin’ for buried treasure. T’ rapids be fun and splashy makin’ this t’ perfect adventure for families and sprogs groups!
Your day of fun on the river begins at 8:40 a.m. at Tag-A-Long’s office in Moab. Here the little ones will get a bandanna and eye patch to distinguish them as ‘Pirates in Training’. Your guide for the day will be easily recognizable in pirate attire and will lead you on your adventure for the day. You start by boarding shuttles for the scenic 26-mile ride to the river “put in.” The morning half of your expedition takes you through a photographer’s paradise as you pass by Fisher Towers, Professor Valley, and stunning red rock formations such as the Nuns and the Priest and Castle Rock. You’ll be gazing out over landscape where many famous classic movies were filmed including John Wayne’s Fort Apache and Rio Grand. More recently, this area was the backdrop for City Slickers II and Larger Than Life. We will stop during the morning to explore an old Pirate Camp to see if there is any leftover loot and perhaps a Treasure Map!
At about Noon we will stop at a beach for lunch. A guide will direct the scrogs on how to read their found Treasure Map and send them off in search of buried treasure. Squeals of joy indicate a successful hunt as your guide prepares lunch. After the loot is divvied and everyone is fed, we continue downstream.
Your day introduces you to tricky White’s Rapid, Ida Gulch and New Rapid, three of the bigger rapids on this stretch of the river. But don’t worry, your expert guide knows how to give you the best ride with the best safety measures! You’ll bounce and bubble over many more rapids and ripples during this playful river trip. Your schedule is leisurely with plenty of time for swimming and water fights before this perfect day on the Colorado River is over.
