Utah River and Wilderness Expeditions since 1964... come Tag-A-Long with us!
Looking for a TRUE Moab 4-wheeling adventure? The Hells Revenge trail, located in the famed Sand Flats Recreation area of Moab, is a roller-coaster ride in the middle of some of the most spectacular red rock vistas around! Combine that with a trek just north of Moab but way back in time to see dinosaurs and remnants of the ancient ones that used to call this place home. We’ll provide the rocks, the art, the fossils, and the stories… you provide the imagination!
Any age Moab traveler with limited time looking for a thrill of a real Slickrock Jeep ride. Dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages. Those interested in ancient cultures. Your expedition begins at the Tag-A-Long office. We will cross the Colorado River, on our way to Mill Canyon. Along the way, your guide will explain to you the unique geology and ancient history of the area that made it a perfect place for preserving the first signs of life on the earth.
For dinosaur sightings we will go to Mill Canyon where old bones are slowly eroding out of the rock. Then walk in the footsteps of the giants at the newly discovered Mill Canyon Dinosaur Tracksite, a collection of over 200 therapod (two legged carnivorous dinosaurs) and sauropod (four legged herbivores) tracks and one of an ancient crocodile! This is one of the largest areas of dinosaur tracks from the Cretaceous period in North America.
For rock art and ruins, there’s no place like the Tusher Tunnel, a walk through a 83ft. (25m) hole in a sandstone cliff. And Bartlett Wash where you’ll see the oldest records of man in this area. Learn about the Barrier Canyon people and marvel at the gigantic human like figures painted on the walls.
After lunch we drive through to the other end of Moab and soon find ourselves on the Sand Flats road. Here we turn off onto the Hells Revenge trail. Feel your heart race as we scale tall fins of rock, seemingly endlessly climbing up into the sky before finally peaking to astonishing 360° views. Then the hair-raising descent back down the other side! Ready to do it again? Great! We travel over more fins, through gullies, and on cliff edges guaranteed to give you a thrill! Don’t forget your cameras – the photos are amazing.
About half way through we reach the edge of the cliff overlooking the Colorado River. Arches National Park is just on the other side of the river. Turn around and you can see the La Sal Mountains right behind you. Now, you are truly on top of the world!
