The Big Picture
There is no better or easier
way to experience the best
of what canyon country has
to offer than to climb
aboard this exciting,
one-day mini-expedition! You
play in splashy class I-II
rapids and drive a path less
traveled into the
backcountry of Arches National Park in a rugged (but air-conditioned!) four-wheel drive vehicle. See it all, do it all .Tag-A-Long Expeditions makes it happen for you and your family!
The Details
Your mini-expedition begins at the Tag-A-Long office in Moab at 7:15 a.m.* where we board four-wheel drive vehicles for a drive into
Arches National Park. We
cross the Moab fault to
enter Arches National Park. Youll want your camera and lots of film!
Cool months you have the
option to hike Park Avenue
and the guide drives the
shuttle for this one mile -
one way walk.
After photographing the
Balanced Rock, we approach
the windows section,
containing the greatest
concentration of arches from
a single parking lot! We
leave the park utilizing the
Willow Flats road. This
landscape undulates in and
out of washes. The frozen
sand dunes exhibit the
tracks of ancient life --
the dinosaurs!
For those paying close
attention the difference in
the preserved park will
become apparent from the
signs of grazing and
multiple uses of the lands
outside the park along this
park access!
The second half of the days adventure finds you splashing along on the mighty Colorado River. Youll enjoy some of the most enchanting scenery to be found anywhere in the American West while you float along, swim or hit playful class I-II rapids. Throughout the day, youll learn about native wildlife, the cultural and natural history of the region, and the fascinating geologic story of this amazing country and youll have a ball all the while! You are back in Moab by around 4:30.*
* This itinerary may be operated in reverse to begin with rafting at 8:45 a.m. and to conclude with 4x4
around
5:00 p.m. Please check-in the evening before your departure to verify your departure times.
